Methodology
i

Soundly is an independently owned hearing health research tool. Our reviews are conducted by hearing aid wearers and audiologists. We physically review the leading hearing aids on the market for sound quality, comfort, durability, and more. Our review process starts with hands-on unboxing and days, weeks, or months of wear. We also record live sound demos using a calibrated binaural microphone (read more here). We experiment with backend fitting software for prescription products and use test box measures to measure prescriptive accuracy and flexibility. Our work is funded through reader support. When you buy through our links, we may earn a commission. Read more about our story here.

Jabra Enhance hearing aids (previously named Lively) are built by the world's 4th largest hearing aid manufacturer (ReSound). Jabra Enhance made a name for itself by recreating the full-service audiology model online. Instead of requiring you to come into their office, Jabra reduces the cost by programming remotely and shipping to your home. All Jabra products come with a 100-day return policy and 3 years of unlimited remote care.

You can find the same product for sale at a local clinic for around $4,000.

The breakdown

First, the big question. Why is this product cheaper than the traditional alternative?

Lively moves the whole fitting process from local shops (with lots of overhead) to one central operation and remote audiologists.

Lively hearing aids are made by ReSound, which sells similar technology for $3,500 through a local care provider.

The tech inside

Jabra Enhance Select hearing aids are rechargeable and connect to an app that allows for volume control, program control, and remote audiology visits. All levels of Jabra hearing aids are Bluetooth enabled and connect to all Apple and Android devices. Jabra Enhance Select 200 is the only level of hearing aid that allows hands free calling on iPhone. All levels of Jabra Enhance hearing aids can be programmed remotely by your audiologist—no more in-person visits.

Getting up close

Jabra hearing aids sit behind the ear and offer buttons for easy volume control. Ear tips and the behind-the-ear wires can be adjusted based on your ear size and shape. Jabra Enhance hearing aids are less than one inch long and are virtually invisible from the front and side profiles.
